Broadcom exhibited its advanced sensor solutions and portfolio of IR and UV product families at electronica 2022.

Broadcom is one of the industry's broadest IP portfolios with over 19,000 patents in FY21. The company has invested $4.9 billion in R&D in FY21.

Efficient high current & voltage sensing for green energy applications

Broadcom´s optocouplers are helping to improve energy efficiency by reducing power losses in solar and wind power systems.

  • The 50mV input ACPL-C72x is designed for shunt-based high current (>100A) sensing
    • Linear input range: ±50mV (low power loss across shunt – Green Energy Initiatives)
    • Bandwidth : 200kHz
  • The 0-2V input digital ACPL-C877 is designed for accurate voltage sensing in electronic power converter applications.
    • Linear input range: 0V – 2V
    • Input Impedance: 1GΩ (low power dissipation across resistive divider network – Green Energy Initiatives)
    • 16 bits resolution no missing codes (11 bits ENOB)
    • 76dB typ. SNR, 66dB typ. SNDR
  • Both devices are in a compact Stretched SO-8 (SSO-8) package
    • 8mm creepage and clearance
    • IEC/EN/DIN EN 60747-5-5: VIORM = 1414 Vpk, UL 1577: 5000 Vrms/1min
    • –40ºC to +110ºC Operating Temperature Range

Portfolio of IR and UV product families

Broadcom has recently introduced a broad portfolio of IR and UV product families to the LED portfolio. The IR emitters are available in various wavelengths and industry standard packages with detectors complementing the range. The new UV-A LED portfolio offers great benefits in the sanitation and disinfection of contagious diseases as well as for the growth and boosted photosynthesis of horticulture applications.

Advanced sensor solutions

Broadcom has extended its portfolio of advanced sensor solutions with the addition of thin film pyroelectric detectors. These gas and flame detectors, available in analog and digital versions, operate in mid-infrared wavelengths from 2µm to 20µm and are used widely in medical and consumer applications.

  • High current & voltage sensing optocouplers are improving energy efficiency in green energy applications
  • Broad portfolio of IR and UV product families are enabling new growing applications like disinfection and horticulture applications respectively
  • Portfolio extension of advanced sensor solutions with the addition of thin film pyroelectric detectors. These gas and flame detectors are used widely in medical and consumer applications.
  • Customer benefits include: fast and strong signal, highly integrated, low-power and small SMD packag, 15+ years life span
