Alpha Real Capital, the specialist manager of secure income real assets, has closed its largest solar transaction to date with the acquisition of Innova Energy, an £86m multi-asset operating portfolio.

Alpha has acquired 17 solar farms located across the UK including extension and expansion rights. The addition of the 61.5MW portfolio takes Alpha’s annual low carbon generation to circa 540 GWh, equivalent to powering 186,000 homes, and offsetting 115,000 tonnes of CO2e annually. This latest acquisition means 2021 was Alpha’s most active year yet in UK renewables.

Alpha was advised on the acquisition by Lux Nova Partners (English law), Moore Kingston Smith (tax and financial), ITPEnergised (technical), Mills Selig (Real Estate) and Harper Macleod (Scots law).

Will Morgan, Head of Renewables at Alpha Real Capital said: "The addition of this portfolio takes Alpha’s solar  assets to 215MW and 45 sites. Following a strong market recovery, we anticipate remaining active in the market as we continue to source opportunities that will deliver the UK’s energy transition."

Phillip Rose, Alpha CEO said: “This latest investment takes our renewables investment programme to over £800 million diversified across wind, solar and hydro. With over £2billion now invested in renewables infrastructure and social infrastructure, Alpha’s funds continue to focus on responsible investing in sectors that make a positive contribution to the environment and society.”
