Sensor + Test 2018: Pt Temperature sensor wins ESCC approval

ESSC-qualified thin-film Pt temperature sensors which will work from -200 degrees C to +200 degrees C in space have been introduced by Innovative Sensor Technology (IST). The ESSC qualification follows a four-year evaluation and qualification phase.

Currently these are the only Pt temperature sensors approved by the European Space Agency.

The sensors are resistant to thermal cycles – they provide stable measurement results at 70,000 cycles in the temperature range.

They are also very drift stable, have a small size of 2.3mm x 2mm x 1.3mm are light and robust as they have no moving parts.

The devices are available with resistors from Pt100 to Pt2000 and correspond to tolerance Class B (IEC 60751 FO.3). They are available as an engineering model as well as a flight model.

If requires IST also offers customer-specific adaptations of the sensors for example with extended wires (ESCC qualified wires).
