The successful integration of GORE Aerospace Ethernet Cables into upcoming F-16 upgrade initiatives has been announced by W. L. Gore & Associates, (Gore). Gore’s new 10-gigabit cables exceed Cat6a electrical requirements by delivering reliable signal integrity with sufficient margin for high-speed data transmission over longer distances.

These cables are qualified according to C21091 specifications for F-16 upgrades that require exceptional electrical and mechanical performance in harsh aerospace environments to ensure mission-critical success.

In addition, GORE Aerospace Ethernet Cables can be easily retrofitted into any existing aircraft structure, making them an ideal solution for F-16 upgrades. They are significantly smaller, lighter weight and more flexible with a tighter bend radius for easier routing in tight areas compared to leading alternative cables. The individually shielded pairs in Gore’s Cat6a cables also provide enhanced electrical performance with lower signal attenuation and minimal crosstalk to ensure reliable system performance over the life of the F-16 aircraft.

When upgrading any aircraft, proper connector-cable termination practices are crucial to ensure complete and accurate high-speed data transfer. Therefore, Gore made it easy by developing step-by-step instructions for terminating their Cat6a cables with leading high-speed aerospace connectors successfully in less time with lower risk, which helps reduce downtime and costly delays.

“It’s been a pleasure working with the US Air Force to provide a smaller, more durable high-speed cable solution that meets their specific system requirements. Technicians can route our Ethernet cables more easily into aircraft without the potential for rework,” said Brian Tallman, Product Manager for Gore’s Aerospace Team.

GORE Aerospace Ethernet Cables will be on display at the F-16 and Proven Aircraft TCG World Wide Review, Booth 133/134 in Ogden, Utah on September 12th-15th, 2016.
