MMD has announced the monitor line-up Momentum, focused on home entertainment, particularly console gaming. The first Philips Momentum display to debut, the Philips 436M6VBPAB comes with a 4K UHD resolution on its 43-inch VA panel.

The 436M6VBPAB display has 1000 cd/m² in peak brightness, ultra-wide colour gamut with 100% BT.709 and 97.6% DCI-P3 coverage and 1.07 billion colours achieved by 8 bit +2 bit FRC (Frame Rate Control) colour depth, becoming the first display in the world to be compliant with the VESA DisplayHDR 1000 standard.

The 436M6VBPAB is also equipped with Quantum Dot technology instead of conventional LED backlight technologies. This semiconductor technology produces vibrant, dynamic colours with blues, greens and reds.

Thanks to the narrow wavelength Quantum Dot sources for red, green and blue, these primary colours are portrayed with more saturation, increasing the vibrance and colour accuracy.

The 436M6VBPAB is also a gaming monitor, giving gamers the upper edge by employing Low Input Lag mode and SmartResponse for quicker visual feedback and Adaptive-Sync for a stutter-free and tear-free gaming experience.

Some people are very enthusiastic about PC gaming, never giving up their keyboard and mouse, preferring to sit on a dedicated gaming chair and mainly use 24-32in gaming monitors from a short (<1m) distance.

Some people on the other hand prefer to use controllers with a gaming console by connecting them to TV’s and similarly large displays, chill on a couch or armchair and play games from a greater distance. In fact, this console gaming market is actually the second biggest in 2017 with 29% of the global games market according to analyst NewZoo.

Unfortunately, most TV’s are not designed with gaming as the primary focus and therefore less suited for fast-paced, interactive action sequences; causing ghosting, motion blur and similar artefacts that annoy gamers.

The Momentum line-up changes this landscape and fills the gap in the Philips monitors’ product range. The aim is to shift the focus to large screen entertainment and console gaming by bringing the latest display innovations to the conscious gamer/consumer. Especially for smaller spaces, the Momentum line-up covers all entertainment display needs with an exceptional quality.

The 436M6VBPAB is a large size display with small bezels sitting on a modern thin aluminium stand. The display features Ambiglow lighting, which creates an immersive viewing experience with an external halo of light around the panel.

The fast internal processor analyses the image content and adapts the colour and brightness of the light to match the image on the screen. It is especially suited for movies, sports and games. The external design of the 436M6VBPAB with Ambiglow is one of a kind, just as the other members of Momentum family.

The debuting 436M6VBPAB is equipped with a fast 43” VA panel in cyrstal clear 4K (3840x2160 pixels) UHD resolution with excellent responsiveness of just 4ms GtG with SmartResponse and Adaptive Sync support for the smoothest gaming experience.

The Philips-exclusive pixel overdrive technology, SmartResponse enables ghosting-free images in fast-paced games and movies with the least latency possible. The latest versions of current-gen consoles are capable of producing a 4K resolution and HDR (High Dynamic Range) in selected games, which the 436M6VBPAB is perfectly suited for.

The 436M6VBPAB is also very well-matched for casual entertainment, watching movies, TV series or gaming, thanks to its Adaptive Sync support for AMD GPUs. Adaptive Sync matches the framerate of the rendered imagery with the display’s refresh rate, therefore eliminating stutter and tearing caused by mismatched frames in games.

For more responsiveness, the 436M6VBPAB also employs Low Input Lag mode, in which the signal bypasses the most of the display’s internal processing and reduces the total input latency by half.

The 436M6VBPAB is a practical display as the rest of the Philips monitor line-ups. The MultiView feature can display two sources simultaneously in Picture-in-Picture or Picture-by-Picture modes, increasing multi-tasking.

Its connectivity comes with DisplayPort 1.2, Mini DisplayPort, HDMI 2.0 video signal inputs, as well as USB-C connectivity, carrying the display signal, power for charging devices and data on single cable. The built-in USB 3.0 hub extends the versatility even more by connecting peripheral devices via USB.

The 436M6VBPAB is also equipped with two high-quality 7W speakers with DTS Sound, increasing immersion not only in the visual, but also in the audio department.

The Momentum line-up is designed with the idea that the display might be placed at a considerable distance away from the user. For convenience and user experience, the 436M6VBPAB comes with a remote controller, enabling the ability to control other HDMI connected monitors/devices with Philips EasyLink.

The first Philips Momentum display, the 436M6VBPAB debuts in May 2018 with an RRP of £699.
