Intel Atom Power in a PC/104 Form Factor

Impulse has announced that AAEON Technology, has launched a brand new PC/104 CPU module – the PFM-945C. The special characteristics of this PC/104 module are the onboard PCI/104-Express function offering the latest options in expansion capabilities in the embedded market.
The PFM-945C is built upon the onboard Intel Atom N270 low power processor and Intel 945GSE + ICH7M chipset with support for up to 1GB of onboard DDRII 400/533 system memory. Moreover, its onboard SMSC SCH3114 I/O chipset offers flexible expansion in a compact footprint. The PFM-945C supports one 10/100Base-TX Ethernet RJ-45 port as well as four USB2.0 ports, 4 COM ports and PCI/104 functionality which meets the demanding connectivity and expansion requirements whilst providing a faster and safer connection for your vital applications.

“The PFM-945C was designed for the needs of low power consumption and anti-vibration embedded markets. Combining the LAN port with the PCI/104-Express form factor is a big selling point in the embedded market. Offering a fast and secure Ethernet connection is the concept of launching the PFM-945C”, said Tony Haung, Product Manager of AAEON’s Embedded Computing Division. “The storage needs are met by both SATA and CompactFlash interfaces and can satisfy the versatile storage demands of embedded applications”.

This PFM-945C module supports CRT/LCD simultaneous/dual view displays and also comes with an 18-bit dual-channel LVDS interface. In addition to the display features, the PFM-945C also supports AC97 2.3 audio codec ideal for multimedia rich applications.
The main applications the PFM-945C is suitable for are operator terminal systems, panel PC platforms and general markets in transportation, aviation, KIOSK, military etc. If you are looking for a compact, low power solution, the PFM-945C is definitely your first choice.
