STI Electronics’ Mel Parrish to Chair TAEC Meeting at IPC APEX 2012

STI Electronics, Inc., announces that Mel Parrish, FSO/Director of Training Materials, will chair the Technical Activities Executive Committee (TAEC) meeting at the upcoming IPC APEX Expo, scheduled to take place Feb 28-March 1, 2012 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, CA. The committee will convene during the Management Session of the Standards Development Meetings on Monday, February 27, 2012 from 5-6:30 p.m.
The Chairman of the TAEC is the highest technical volunteer position with the IPC. Mel’s peers elected him to this prominent TAEC position after recognizing his commitment to the IPC and the industry. The TAEC is made up of the chairmen of all IPC general committees. This committee is responsible for the management function related to standardization within the IPC. This committee provides a forum for the exchange of discussions related to committee work within the IPC, military specification development, technical programs for major seminars and technical programs conducted outside the United States.
No stranger to IPC volunteer work, Parrish has been active in IPC technical committees for more than 25 years. He chairs the IPC Product Assurance General Committee, responsible for oversight of documents such as IPC-A-600, IPC-A-620 and IPC-A-610. Parrish has been a member of the TAEC and Committee Chairman Council (CCC) for more than 10 years, and is a past recipient of the IPC President’s Award, and Chairman of the Board Award in recognition of his leadership and technical contributions.

After retiring as an electronics curriculum developer for the U.S. Air Force, Parrish continued to work with standards development and training as President of Manufacturing Technology Training Center Incorporated (MTTC) and worked with the Navy at China Lake during the generation of WS-6536 through MIL-STD-2000 Standards. In addition to his IPC Master Instructor status for IPC-A-610, IPC-A-620, J-STD-001, Parrish has previous DoD certifications for WS-6536, DOD-STD-2000 and MIL-STD-2000.

Complementing his expertise in electronics manufacturing, Parrish has more than 30 years of experience in workforce development, skills standards, curriculum design and development, and management for electronic technology and production disciplines.
