Ramtron International Corporation will showcase its new FRAM-Enhanced FM3130 Processor Companion and two new 512 kilobit serial non-volatile FRAM (ferroelectric random access memory) devices, the FM25L512 and the FM24C512, at Electronica 2006 (stand A5.321). Also featured at Electronica will be the first 8051-based microcontroller with FRAM, the VRS51L3074.
The FM3130 is a FRAM-Enhanced 64-kilobit, 3V Processor Companion device that combines all the benefits of ferroelectric non-volatile RAM with an integrated real-time clock (RTC) in a single 8-pin package. The RTC features an alarm and a programmable frequency clock output and uses a common 12pF watch crystal. The device is available in a standard 150-mil SOIC package and a tiny DFN (dual flat no-lead) package that is footprint-compatible with TSSOP8s. The FM3130 reduces system costs and board space in a variety of consumer and industrial applications.

The VRS51L3074 is the first 8051-based microcontroller with non-volatile FRAM memory. Ramtron has added 8KB of FRAM memory into its fast and flexible Versa 8051s for quick and reliable non-volatile data storage and a processing system that only a FRAM-Enhanced MCU can provide.

The FM25L512 is a 512 kilobit serial peripheral interface (SPI) non-volatile FRAM that operates at 3V and runs at up to 20MHz. The device is offered in an 8-pin DFN package that is footprint-compatible with standard 150-mil SOIC packages. This device is intended for office equipment and industrial control applications.

The FM24C512 is a 512 kilobit 2-wire serial non-volatile FRAM that operates at 5V and runs at up to 1MHz. The FM24C512 is available in an 8-pin EIAJ SOIC and is intended for use primarily in metering applications.
