PCD&F, in conjunction with its sister publication Circuits Assembly, recognized 33 companies for new product introductions in areas ranging from system modeling/verification tools and laminates to specialty materials, plating and assembly processes. Rogers’ RT/duroid 5880LZ won in the Laminate category.
Rogers’ RT/duroid 5880LZ material is a PTFE composite designed for exacting stripline and microstrip circuit applications. Its groundbreaking filler system results in very low density (1.37 gm/cm3), lightweight material, making it ideal for high performance, weight sensitive applications such as airborne antennas. RT/duroid 5880LZ laminate has a dielectric constant (Dk) of 1.96 @ 10GHz, providing the lowest Dk of a copper clad microwave material available today. Additionally, the dielectric constant is highly isotropic (same Dk in x, y, and z directions) and uniform from panel-to-panel and constant over a wide frequency range. RT/duroid 5880LZ is multilayer capable, enabled by a z-axis CTE of less than 46PPM/°C, and its low dissipation factor extends the usefulness of the material to Ku-band frequencies and above.
