Compact Graphic Vacuum Fluorescent Display

RDS has announced the introduction of a new Compact Graphic Vacuum Fluorescent Display from Futaba. These new graphic displays have been designed with high brightness and ease of connectivity in mind. The 128 x 64 display has a pixel pitch of 0.45 x 0.45 mm and a display area of 57.00mm by 29.0mm. With an 8 stage on board dimming function and a 4 level grey scale mode together with the option of additional filters the end appearance of the module is very versatile.

Designed with the benefits of a high contrast ratio, very wide viewing angles, and high brightness the result is a sharp, high definition image suitable for use on high end audio application and instrumentation products where the display is read from across a room.

All modules are controlled by an 8-bit-parallel or serial sync interface with a 5V dc power input. As an option this device is also available with an integrated character generator.

The design of the module is such that it incorporates new manufacturing processes allowing unit costs to be significantly when compared with other more common graphic modules which have the same resolution.
