Solid State Supplies appoints Colin Jacobs as director of business development

Solid State Supplies announces the appointment of Colin Jacobs as director of business development. Jacobs, who started his career in electronic components with the Memec Group, joins Solid State Supplies after 6 years as European Business Development Director for Acal Technology. Prior to that, he spent 5 years running his own electronic component repping business.

Commenting on the appointment, John MacMichael, managing director of Solid State Supplies, said, “At a time when we’re experiencing exceptional growth in the business we’re delighted to have strengthened the senior management team with the addition of another seasoned professional. Colin’s industry and product knowledge, and his established contacts throughout the industry, will be invaluable in maintaining our aggressive growth strategy into 2012 and beyond.”

Jacobs added, “The ongoing consolidation within component distribution continues to create opportunities for agile, mid-sized distributors to attract customers that prefer a more personal service tailored to their needs coupled with in-depth technical and applications support. The success of Solid State Supplies in recent years demonstrates how well they deliver these attributes and I’m looking forward to helping the company take the business forward.”
