GUI Supports Power Components from Multiple Manufacturers

Power-One has announced that the latest version of the Z-One Graphical User Interface (GUI) provides the capability to configure, program, and monitor Point-Of-Load (POL) converters and Digital Power Managers (DPMs) obtained from any Z-AllianceTM compliant manufacturer. Power-One will be demonstrating this industry-first, multi-vendor functionality at Electronica 2006 in Munich.

In addition to utilizing an industry-standard I2C communications port, the new GUI supports JTAG programming. Customers who already have a Z-One GUI can automatically update their software to this latest revision via an Internet connection. This latest revision is backwards compatible with all ZM7100 and ZM7300 DPMs.

The Z-One GUI, used in conjunction with Z-7000 Series products, facilitates dramatically simplified power system development. An extensive range of parameters, such as Vout for each POL, can be user-programmed and stored in a DPM. At system startup, the DPM uses this stored information to initialize up to 32 Z-7000 POLs. After system initialization, ongoing bi-directional communications facilitate intelligent power system operation. Hardware-configurable Z-1000 POLs are also available for customers preferring power management without programming.
