Wireless microcontrollers enable BLE connectivity

The KW39/38/37 families of wireless microcontrollers from NXP Semiconductors is in stock at Mouser Electronics.

NXP KW39, KW38, and KW37 families of wireless microcontrollers are highly integrated single-chip devices that enable Bluetooth Low Energy and generic FSK connectivity for automotive and industrial embedded systems.

The devices are fully AEC Q100 Grade 2 automotive and industrial qualified.

They integrate an Arm Cortex-M0 CPU with up to 512 KBytes of flash and 64 KBytes of SRAM.

The microcontrollers feature -30 dBm to +5 dBm programmable transmitter output power, low external component count for low-cost application, and on-chip balun with single-ended bidirectional RF port.

Developers can use the KW39/38/37 devices as a “BlackBox” modem to add Bluetooth Low Energy or Generic FSK connectivity to an existing host microcontroller or microprocessor, or as a standalone smart wireless sensor with embedded application where no controller is required.

The integrated DC-DC converter enables operation from a single coin cell lithium-ion battery, enabling a significant reduction of current consumption for power-critical applications.

These microcontrollers feature an operating voltage range of 1.71 V to 3.6 V and an operating temperature range of minus 40 degrees to 105 degrees Celsius.

The target automotive applications for the KW39/38/37 devices include car access and car sharing, passive entry/passive start (PEPS) systems, sensors, and wireless on-board diagnostic functions.

Industrial applications include asset tracking, building control and monitoring, CAN-to-Bluetooth Low Energy bridges, and data usage collection.
