Interoperability of isolated CAN FD nodes

In this video, TI presents a demo showcasing the interoperability of the various isolated CAN systems. Three different configurations of isolated CAN and isolated power are used in this demo. The first one employs a discrete CAN transceiver– TCAN1042 with a discrete isolator, ISO7741 for the data communication. A transformer driver, SN6501 with external transformer and regulator constitute the isolated power section.

The second configuration uses a similar discrete isolated power section with a higher output current transformer driver, SN6505. But for the data path, the isolated CAN transceiver ISO1042 is used to save space. An integrated isolated data and power chip, ISOW7841 is used in conjunction with the discrete CAN transceiver, TCAN1042, to create an even smaller third solution.
