Upgraded streetlights provide better illumination

An upgrade to Cree Europe’s NanoOptic Precision Delivery Grid optical system has been announced. The system is designed to enhance the performance of Cree streetlights across the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) markets. The optics will be mounted on new orders of luminaires across the XSP, Urban, Square LED and RKT series.

According to the company, the redesigned optics (Type 210, 275 and 2SH) deliver an even higher quality light distribution at a lower energy-cost than previous technology.

The light distribution is optimised to enable a lower power input against the same system performance, providing additional energy savings of more than 20%.

The new optical system also facilitates more accurate source light emission control, directing light exactly where required.

The new optics have been evaluated on more than 100 different road sections from tenders and projects.

In every analysed context, the results showed that the new design increases the overall system performance of the luminaire, satisfying all regulatory requirements in terms of luminance, uniformity and glare and providing market leading energy efficacy.
