As an option to the internal TXCO reference, units can be supplied with an input for an external 10MHz system reference of 0±3dBm and with which the synthesiser takes on the system frequency stability.
In terms of spectral purity, this new model has typical phase noise of -85dBc/Hz at 10Hz offset in the 500MHz end of its spectrum and -120dBc/Hz at 10MHz offset at the opposite 20GHz end.
Speaking at the product’s launch at AtlanTecRF’s design and development labs in Braintree, UK, Geoff Burling, CEO, said: “This really is a very exciting development in our miniature synthesiser product offering which we expect to be attractive to system designers in test and measurement, in electronic countermeasures and in a whole range of terrestrial and satellite communications applications.”
The ASY-0050-2000 operates from a 5.0VDC supply, drawing just 1A of current. Frequency switching time is 5ms maximum and there is a PLL lock alarm of TTL high for locked. The RF output and reference input connectors are SMA female and DC connection is via robust solder filtercons.
