Talking IIoT digital transformation at ARC forum

This week saw the ARC Industry Forum in Orlando, Florida, and Wind River is took part in the ‘Industry in Transition: Realising the Digital Enterprise’ discussion. Guest blog by Gareth Noyes.

Industrial enterprises are at a crossroads. While their aging proprietary automation systems are reliable and stable, they do not offer the operational flexibility nor have the ability to drive greater efficiency by extracting meaningful data that today’s market demands. Digital transformation is needed.

With 30 years of embedded technology expertise, Wind River has been helping customers quickly address these challenges by uncovering new opportunities with software-defined infrastructure solutions. By consolidating and virtualising operations using open standards, enterprises are reducing CapEx and OpEx expenses and becoming more competitive, agile and receptive to innovation.

Wind River were there to share insights on the ‘IT/OT Convergence: Linking Legacy to an Industrial Internet of Things World’ panel, and discussed how integration of IIoT initiatives can increase savings and productivity and enables access to meaningful data.

Wind River also had a stall with its technologies on such as VxWorksWind River Titanium Server and Wind River Helix Device Cloud which can help companies achieve digital transformation by satisfying these criteria:

  • Low-latency virtualisation
  • Deterministic networking
  • High availability
  • Robust security
  • Lifecycle management
  • Enhanced platform awareness and monitoring
  • Best-in-class applications
