The Photline ModBox is particularly suitable for optical telecommunications laboratories and production test beds as it provides R&D and production engineers with a user friendly turn-key instrument delivering state of the art performance. The equipment incorporates a modulation stage based on a chirp-free LiNb03 Mach-Zehnder modulator, coupled with a high performance RF driver and an automatic bias control circuitry. It also integrates a DFB laser source.
The Variable Extinction Ratio (VER) option provides the flexibility of adjusting the Extinction Ratio (ER) for vertical eye closure. This unique feature allows users to set the ER between 3-12dB for vertical eye closure, either manually or via computer interface. VER value can be adjusted within the 9dB range or chosen from standard and pre-set values: 3, 6, 9 or 12dB.
In addition to 850nm and the O-band, iXblue offers ModBox reference transmitters in the C-band and 1µm region.
