4G LTE maker modem is suitable for M2M applications

TOBY-L2, a u-blox LTE module, has been embedded in the first ever 4G LTE Maker Modem by M2M Circuits, now running a campaign on Kickstarter. The Maker Modem is the only 4G modem designed for the MakerSpace enabling direct cellular connection to single-board computers and microcontrollers for M2M applications.

In addition to offering high-speed TCP/IP over the LTE network for higher data-rate M2M applications and broader coverage, the Maker Modem is also provisioned for SMS enabling communication over text messages. The team created an open-source API making it easier for developers to use their favorite single-board computers or microcontrollers.

It also benefits from a ready-to-use built-in antenna system, complemented by external antenna access for use in more rural areas, and comes with two data-port connections (USB connection and two-wire serial interface for low-power microcontrollers). The Maker Modem is looking to be certified in the US, before targeting the European market.
