Industrial PC features 24/7 performance & expansion capability

Lanner has announced the release of the LEC-2281, the successor to and upgrade from another high-performance box PC, the LEC-2280. The fanless LEC-2281 comes with Intel’s 4th generation Core i7/i5/i3 processors, as opposed to the LEC-2280’s 3rd generation Core i processors and it offers richer expansion and I/O options.

While both the LEC-2281 and the LEC-2280 feature either 4 core or dual core processing power, the former’s Intel Core i7-4700EQ, i5-4400E or i3-4102E processors demonstrate significant performance improvements over the latter’s Intel Core i7-3612QE, i7-3555LE, i5-3610ME or i3-3120ME processors.

The LEC-2281‘s product positioning as an ideal physical security, machine vision and digital signage solution makes sense because in addition to the high-performance and robust CPUs, the LEC-2281’s Intel HD Graphics 4600, when compared with the LEC-2280’s Intel HD Graphics 4000, boasts at least a 60% boost in graphical performance; its HDMI, VGA and DVI-D interface supports resolution up to 3840×2160 at 24Hz (or 2560 x 1600 at 60Hz), 1920×1080 and 1920×1200, respectively.

In terms of storage and expansion, the LEC-2281’s storage capacity doubles that of the LEC-2280’s, offering dual 2.5″ HDD/SSD drive bays and one mSATA socket; expansion is made possible via the included PCI, PCI Express x16 and the full-sized mini-PCIe socket with SIM card reader.

Similar to most of Lanner’s embedded hardware offerings, the LEC-2281’s fanless design, 9 to 30VDC input range and -10 to 50 (or -10 to 45) operating temperature ensure its availability 24/7. Other notable features include 16GB DDR3L SODIMM memory, dual COM ports, dual serial ports, dual USB 3.0 ports, 4 USB 2.0 ports and various mounting options.

All in all, the LEC-2281’s high-performance processors, scalable expansion capability and flexible I/O options make it the all-in-one, one-for-all solution for almost all IoT and industry 4.0 application scenarios.
