Lexus is working on a real-life Hoverboard

The recently unveiled hoverboard uses technology such as magnetic levitation and liquid nitrogen cooled superconductors to achieve frictionless movement and create the impossible. Yes, you heard right.

Lexus has stepped out of its luxury vehicle comfort zone and into innovation. The company just released a video displaying the technology of its real, rideable hoverboard just like the one you saw in the Back to the Future II film.

Lexus’ prototype Hoverboard

The Lexus Hoverboard uses magnetic levitation and liquid nitrogen cooled superconductors to achieve frictionless movement and create the impossible.

The hoverboard design screams “Lexus” with its Wrapped in iconic Lexus spindle grille signature shape and incorporates materials found in the luxury car brand – from the high-tech aspects to the natural bamboo.

This is the fourth project in Lexus’ ‘Amazing in Motion’ series of projects which aims to express the company’s dedication to innovative design, technology and creativity.

According to Lexus, the hoverboard is just a prototype and will not be hitting the market (what a disappointment).

No, this is not the first hoverboard ever created. Many have come before Lexus to try and make it work, but it’s still pretty awesome. Check out the teaser below.
