GaN transistors boasts leading current capability

Topside cooling, first announced by GaN Systems in March, has been used in the GS66516T 650V E-Mode power switch, which is claimed to have the highest current capability available at 60.

Packaged in low inductance, thermally efficient GaNPX, with a footprint of 9.0×7.6×0.45mm, users can choose conventional heatsink or fan cooling techniques.

Additional features include reverse current capability, integral source sense and zero reverse recovery loss and dual gate pads for board layout optimisation.

The transistor can be used in high frequency, high efficiency power conversion applications such as on-board battery chargers, 400V DC/DC conversion, inverters, UPS and VFD motor drives, AC/DC power supplies – both PFC and primary, and VHF small form factor power adapters.

The transistor is available packaged on tape and reel or mini-reel.
