ST engineer earns Frederik Philips Award

STMicroelectronics announced that Benedetto Vigna, Executive Vice President Analog, MEMS and Sensors Group, has been awarded the Frederik Philips Award, presented by the IEEE for leadership in conceiving, developing and commercialising MEMS.

The Institute presents the award annually for outstanding accomplishments in managing research and development leading to effective innovation. The award was established in 1971 through an agreement between N.V. Philips Gloeilampenfabrieken (now Philips Electronics N.V.) and the IEEE. Since joining ST, Vigna has led his teams in delivering groundbreaking MEMS products that have first, transformed computer gaming, and then, enabled smartphones, tablets and new devices that rely on small, affordable and easy-to-use sensing and actuating.
