IR LEDs provide reference source for moisture detection

Hamamatsu Photonics has released an infrared LED, the L12771 series, aimed at moisture detection applications where specific wavelengths are required as the reference light source. The L12771 series has a peak emission wavelength of 1.3µm with a typical radiant output power of 2.8mW. The IR LEDs use InGaAs, and come in a compact TO-46 package.

There are two options available; the L12771, a standard type LED with wide angle directivity, and the L12771-01, a lens type LED with more focused light output and higher radiant flux than the standard type.

These LEDs also well-priced performance at the long emission wavelengths required for moisture detection, as well as for agricultural applications such as grain separation.
