Relay switches provide 2 to 10m life cycles

A family of high-rel electromechanical relay switches, which provide 2 to 10m life cycles, has been introduced by Pasternack. The MIL-STD-202 qualified devices are suitable for defence and commercial aviation, semiconductor manufacturing, communications, radar, SATCOM and test instrumentation.

The family consists of 42 designs, including 38 connectorised models and four surface-mount models. To guarantee operation up to 10m life cycles, the actuator and transmission link features a patented design which is optimised for magnetic efficiency and mechanical rigidity.

Available in packages which utilise SMA & N Type connectors, the switches operate across a frequency range of DC-40GHz, a voltage range of 12-30V and a power range of 5-700W. The devices, which have a high isolation of up to 85dB and low insertion loss of 0.15dB at 1GHz, feature indicators, a latching actuator, a failsafe actuator and TTL inputs.

“We are pleased to release one of the industry’s largest off-the-shelf portfolios of electromechanical relay switches,” commented Tim Galla, Product Manager, Active RF Components, Pasternack. “The patented rugged design features of these RF switches allow up to 10m life cycles with outstanding repeatability, compared to standard electromechanical relay switch designs.”
