GTK gains UL wiring harness traceability approval

GTK has obtained approval under the UL wiring harness traceability programme, enabling the cable assembly manufacturer to produce wiring harnesses for OEMs whilst maintaining complete traceability of all of the components. The UL programme was designed to meet the increasing complexity of global manufacturing processes.

Completed electronic products typically include components and materials from a large number of manufacturers, potentially spanning several different regions. Since a large percentage of the wiring materials are processed into a harness before it reaches the customer, this level of traceability gives complete confidence that the correct materials have been used and that the component supply chain can be traced easily.

“We are delighted that we are now able to offer this level of traceability to our customers. It gives them peace of mind that we can provide this service, as they know that the harnesses we supply will be manufactured to their specifications,” said Chas Shale, Business Manager, Cable Assemblies, GTK. “It also helps to speed up the process of introducing new harnesses, enabling them to ensure they meet their time-to-market targets. We managed to obtain approval in only four weeks and are now one of a select number of UK companies who can offer this service.”
