Amplifier provides more than 27dBm Pout/tone

Suitable for Ka-band high data density satellite communications, the MAAP-011139 power amplifier has been released by M/A-COM Technology Solutions. Offered in both bare die format and a 5x5mm 32-lead QFN package, the device delivers 24dB of linear gain, 4W of saturated output power and 23% efficiency.

While maintaining IM3 levels of 30dBc, the amplifier provides more than 27dBm Pout/tone. According to the company, this is twice the linear performance of competing devices. The MAAP-011139 can, therefore, replace two equivalent competing devices while operating in an overall more efficient mode. In bare die format, the amplifier measures 3.1×2.8×0.05mm, making it suitable for applications with a limited space.

“The MAAP-011139 sets a new industry benchmark for linear power performance at Ka-band frequencies,” commented Paul Beasly, Product Manager, MACOM. “In combination with MACOM’s comprehensive mmWave Ka-Band product portfolio we can provide customers with a complete chip-set solution that we believe enables the best performance, value and ease-of-use.”

The MAAP-011139 is available now in both production and sample quantities.
