Socket for RF & wireless chips features a 80µm signal path

A socket designed for RF, wireless and high speed digital chips, which is based on an elastomer that has been developed for 75GHz applications, has been released by Ironwood Electronics. Featuring a short signal path of 80µm, the GT Socket offers a total inductance of less than 1nH.

In order to limit the effect on the development environment, particular attention has been paid to the size of the complete socket. The device is, therefore, only a few mm larger than the original device, supporting BGA, WLCSP and QFN package types. The smallest pitch is 0,15mm. The GT Socket is particularly suitable for prototyping, evaluating and testing.
