CMOS sensors deliver improved performance v cost

Two new compact CMOS linear image sensors are designed in a small surface mount package and are ideal for mass production and numerous applications including barcode readers, displacement meters, refractometers, interferometers and miniature spectrometers. Hamamatsu Photonics says the S10226-10 and S10227-10 sensors offer much improved performance vs. cost.

The S10226-10 offers 1024, 7.8 x 125 µm pixels in a compact array measuring just 2.4 x 9.1 x 1.6 mm, with very high sensitivity, low noise and low dark current. With a video data rate of 200 kHz, an on-chip charge amplifier with excellent characteristics and a built-in timing generator, operation is efficient and simple whilst running off a single 3.3 V power supply.

The S10227-10 offers 512, 12.5 x 250 µm pixels in a compact array measuring just 4.4 x 9.1 x 1.6 mm and, in addition to high sensitivity and low noise and dark current, the S10227-10 also includes a shutter function. The sensor also boasts a faster video data rate of 5 MHz and operation is by a single 5 V power supply.
