Multiband cellular antenna for IoT applications

The Antenna Company has recently commenced customer sampling and made available its AC97002 multiband cellular antenna, tailored for effortless integration with indoor smart meter gateways and various IoT applications.

Key features and advantages of the AC97002 antenna include:

  • Radio coverage across 698-960MHz and 1700-2690MHz frequency bands, achieving efficiencies as high as 75% in the sub-GHz range
  • Compact dimensions of 45 x 170 x 35mm, facilitating flexible placement within cabinets
  • Quick and straightforward installation process in smart meter gateways, complemented by a variable-length, detachable cable equipped with a Fakra D connector

Additionally, the AC97002 offers:

  • An omni-directional radiation pattern
  • Versatility in mounting, allowing for both horizontal and vertical orientations on metallic or non-conductive surfaces
  • Compliance with ROHS and REACH standards

In light of the mandated deployment of smart meter gateways in countries like Germany, the need for dependable connectivity is paramount to ensure secure data exchange between premise equipment and the wider network.

“The AC97002 antenna is an ideal choice for grid operators deploying infrastructure for smart metering. Installation is greatly simplified through the use of a smart detachable cable, to streamline cable routing and reduce installation time,” said company CEO David Favreau.

“The high antenna efficiency of the AC97002 improves the success rate of achieving network connectivity when mounting the antenna inside metal cabinets with smart meter gateways.”

The AC97002 is currently available for customer trials and evaluation.
