Humidity/temperature sensors suit tough automotive environments

In stock at authorised distributor Mouser Electronics are the SHT4xA relative humidity/temperature sensors from Sensirion.

The SHT4xA are 16-bit, high-accuracy, automotive-grade digital sensors for measuring relative humidity and temperature with different accuracy gradings, explicitly developed for the most demanding automotive reliability application requirements.

These sensorsare designed for operation in harsh automotive environments, like accelerated lifetime tests at 85°C / 85 %RH.

They are AEC-Q100 rated and feature a powerful, integrated, on-chip heater with advanced onboard diagnostics for self-decontamination and periodic creep compensation in applications with prolonged high humidity.

The SHT4xA sensors achieve accuracy tolerances of ±2 %RH and ±0.2°C from 0 %RH to 100 %RH at -40°C to +125°C, with operating voltage ranges of 2.3 V to 5.5 V.

Suitable for surface mount technology (SMT) processing, the sensors’ four-pin, dual-flat-no-leads package offers different accuracy classes, with I2C or pulse-width modulation interfaces, and with optional wettable flanks, enables automated optical inspection of the robust DFN package.

The SEK-SHT40A-AD1B temperature evaluation kit, also available from Mouser, is used to evaluate the SHT40A sensor. The kit includes three SHT40A sensors on an FPCB and a one-meter-long RJ45 adapter cable. The SEK-SHT40A-AD1B evaluation kit is designed to work with the Sensirion SEK-SensorBridge environmental sensing kit.
