Meet the judges: Electronics Excellence Awards 2026

Electronic Specifier has announced the panel of industry experts who will judge the Electronics Excellence Awards, as the programme returns to electronica 2026 in Munich. The awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday, 10th November at 12:30pm on the Hall C6 stage.

First launched at electronica in 2022, the Electronics Excellence Awards have built a strong reputation across the electronics sector for a rigorous, independent judging process that celebrates the most innovative and impactful product and technology achievements of the year. This year’s panel brings together senior engineers, marketing leaders, and technical specialists spanning embedded design, power electronics, distribution, and test & measurement.

The 2026 judging panel comprises:

Dunstan Power, Co-Founder of ByteSnap Design, a chartered electronics engineer who has worked across the industry since graduating from Cambridge University in the early 1990s. He co-founded ByteSnap, an embedded design consultancy serving clients worldwide, with former colleague Graeme Wintle in 2008.

Jackie Rutter, Vice President of Corporate Marketing at Menlo Micro, brings more than 25 years of global experience across marketing, sales, and engineering. She leads global marketing and growth strategy for Menlo Micro’s switching technologies, which serve applications from AI data centres to aerospace and quantum computing.

Mark Patrick, Director of Technical Content for EMEA at Mouser Electronics, oversees the creation and distribution of technical content that supports and informs the region’s engineering audience. A hands-on engineer with a first-class honours degree from Coventry University, his background spans supplier marketing, technical support, and semiconductor sales.

Roger Thornton, Director of Applications Engineering at Raspberry Pi, has worked on several generations of the Raspberry Pi computer. He was part of the team that took Raspberry Pi through its 2024 IPO and sits on the company’s sustainability committee.

Stéphane Ratelet, Director of Sales and Support/Digital Solutions – EMEA at DigiKey, develops the company’s regional growth strategy and oversees its digital transformation partnerships. He joined DigiKey in 2014 following more than a decade of electronic sales and engineering experience.

Trevor Smith, a veteran of the electronics and test & measurement industry with a career spanning over five decades, joined Pico Technology in 2013 as Worldwide Sales Manager, helping drive global success for the PicoScope range. Now retired from full-time work, he continues to contribute as a consultant and judge for the awards.

“This is a panel that reflects what our industry actually values: rigorous independent evaluation and genuine engineering achievement,” said Paige Hookway, Managing Editor of Electronic Specifier. “Their combined experience across design, distribution, test & measurement, and marketing means every entry will be judged with real depth of understanding.”

The Electronics Excellence Awards most recently appeared at embedded world 2026 in Nuremberg, where six category winners were crowned across Power, Test & Measurement, Electromechanical, Software, Passive, and the newly introduced Semiconductor category.

Submissions for the 2026 programme are open now. Winners receive a promotional package valued at more than £8,000, delivering marketing exposure across Electronic Specifier’s print and digital platforms. Companies are encouraged to enter early to maximise pre-show editorial coverage. An early-bird discount is available (EARLYBIRD26).
