Bel Fuse, the US-based electronics manufacturer, has expanded its e-mobility portfolio with the launch of a high-power, liquid-cooled on-board charger designed for electric and hybrid vehicles.
The new unit, the BCF19-700-8, delivers up to 19.2 kW of output power and operates across a voltage range of 450 to 900 VDC, targeting the growing market for high-voltage battery systems. Bel Fuse said the charger achieves a full-load efficiency of 94% and includes built-in protection against overheating, over-voltage, and over-current.
The device is compatible with standard electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) and can connect directly to the public grid, operating on single- or split-phase inputs from 100 to 277 VAC. A CAN bus interface provides onboard communication for monitoring and control.
“We designed this liquid-cooled battery charger to meet the critical demands of today’s HEV and EV manufacturers,” said Frank Vondenhoff, Bel Fuse’s Global Director of eMobility Product & Business Development. “Its 19.2 kW output, high efficiency, and wide voltage accelerate charging times and ensure compatibility with a broad spectrum of high-voltage battery systems.”
The BCF19-700-8 meets SAE J1939 and UL 2202 standards, aligning with automotive industry requirements for safety and performance.
Bel Fuse, which trades on Nasdaq, supplies a broad range of electronic components including power supplies, connectors, and circuit protection devices. The company said the new charger will be distributed through Mouser Electronics and Digikey.
