German technology companies Vector Informatik and Lauterbach have launched a joint solution aimed at cutting development times for safety-critical software in sectors such as automotive, aerospace, and medical devices.

The partnership combines Lauterbach’s TRACE32 real-time trace system with Vector’s VectorCAST testing platform to streamline code coverage measurement, a key requirement for certification under standards such as ISO 26262 for automotive and DO-178C for aviation.

Code coverage analysis is used to demonstrate that test cases are complete and that no unintended functionality remains in the final product.

Traditionally, this process requires extensive instrumentation and repeated test runs. By collecting coverage data directly on the target hardware, the two companies claim they can cut the number of build cycles needed without compromising real-time performance.

The companies said the approach would allow developers to bring products to market more quickly while meeting regulatory requirements.

“By reducing instrumentation and minimising build cycles, the integrated solution helps development teams accelerate verification workflows while maintaining full traceability,” said Andreas Horn, Senior Manager at Vector.

Lauterbach’s Head of Marketing, Markus Herdin, added that the collaboration enables “safe certification with less effort.”

A joint webinar to present the solution is scheduled for 9th October.
