Based on the Nordic Semiconductor nRF51822 SoC, the module features an ARM Cortex M0 processor, which runs the Bluetooth protocol stack, and 256KB of flash memory and 16KB RAM. Via 29 I/O pins, designers have access to the remaining processor and memory resources. These pins can be configured as SPI, I2C or UART interfaces. To link sensors to the module, the I/O pins can be configured as connections to the 8/9/10-bit, 6-channel ADC.
The EYSFCNZXX also features a ceramic antenna and filter. This integration minimises the requirement for external components, while the I/O pin access removes the need for an external MCU and memory, reducing space, costs and time.
Nordic Semiconductor’s Bluetooth Qualified profiles and demo applications are available for use with the modules, and further reduce time-to-market. The applications include UART services, temperature sensors, proximity tags, beacons and heart rate monitors.
The EYSFCNZXX, which measures 12.9×9.6×2.0mm, is available in production quantities now. Sample price is $20 per unit.
