Processors bring Hollywood sound to the home

Certified by Dolby Laboratories for the decoding of Dolby Atmos content, the SHARC 214xx family of processors have been launched by Analog Devices. The devices enable Dolby’s latest cinema audio surround processing technology to be implemented in AVR systems for the home theater market.

Dolby Atmos delivers multidimensional sound that places and moves specific sound anywhere in the room. Once only utilised by Hollywood, the Dolby’s Atmos cinematic experience can now be enjoyed in consumer home audio products that use SHARC processors.

“Dolby’s certification of Analog Devices’ SHARC processors means that we can go to market with the assurance that our Dolby Atmos system properly implements this exciting new surround technology,” said Yoshinori Yamada, global business team leader, Audio and Video, D+M Group. “Our customers can now enjoy Dolby Atmos in their homes experiencing the best in audio with Denon and Marantz products.”

SHARC processors featuring Dolby Atmos decoding are now available for early adopters of Dolby-licensed home theater systems and will be broadly available soon. ADI’s Dolby Atmos implementation is supported by the Melody AVR 5 development platform and SDK.
