Precision operational amplifiers operate from ±70V

Expanding the company’s LTC6090 family of precision operational amplifiers, Linear Technology has introduced the LTC6091 and LTC6090-5. Operating from a supply voltage up to 140V (±70V), the operational amplifiers have a CMOS input structure which keeps the input bias current to a maximum of 50pA at 85°C, making them suitable for sensor circuits and other applications requiring high input impedance.

The operational amplifiers feature input offset voltage of 1.25mV max over temperature and low frequency (1/f) noise of 3.5µVP-P at 0.1-10Hz. The LTC6090 family also provides typical output short-circuit current of ±90mA and maximum supply current of 3.9mA per amplifier. A thermal flag pin (TFLAG) signals when the device junction temperature exceeds 145°C. This pin can be connected to the Output Disable pin for active thermal management.

The decompensated LTC6090-5 offers higher speed, is stable at a gain of 5 or above. It provides 24MHz gain-bandwidth product and 37V/µs slew rate, compared with 12MHz and 21V/µs for the gain-of-1 stable LTC6091. The dual LTC6091 also features separate output disable pins, making it suited for high voltage multiplexed applications.

The LTC6090-5 is available in 8-pin SOIC and 16-pin TSSOP packages and operating temperature ranges of 0 to +70°C, -40 to +85°C and -40 to +125°C. The LTC6091 is available in a 16-pin 4x6mm QFN package and -40 to +85°C and -40 to +125°C operating temperature ranges. Prices start at $3.45 (USD) each for the LTC6090-5, and $6.61 (USD) each for the LTC6091 in 1,000 unit quantities.
