Motherboards deliver up to 15% CPU performance increase

3 Mini-ITX embedded motherboards, powered by the 4th generation Intel CoreTM processor family, have been announced by DFI. Designated the HM100-Q87, HM101-QM87, and HM103-QM87, the 3 models are built on 22-nanometer process technology offering higher processing performance, superior graphics display support, and evolutionary improvements in system memory and I/O interfaces.

The 4th generation Intel Core processor and mobile-based Intel QM87 express chipset allows the boards to deliver a 5 – 15% CPU performance increase over previous generations. The 4th generation Intel HD Graphics engine provides smooth flash playback and rich 2D/3D graphics with high quality playback. Further to this, the graphics engine includes Intel Clear Video Technology that supports advanced imaging capabilities for Blu-Ray and other high definition video processing such as image stabilization, gamut mapping and frame rate conversion. The onboard graphics features 4 display ports: 1 HDMI, 1 DVI-I, 1 LVDS, and 1 DP, allowing users to choose the best combination to suit various requirements.

The QM87-based Mini-ITX boards have been designed with 2 dual channel DDR3/DDR3L SODIMM sockets, which deliver maximum performance up to 16GB. The Gigabit LAN ports support iAMT9.0 for network-intensive applications. The Intel QM87 chipset, based on the low-power mobile platform provides flexible I/O, including 8 USB ports, 2 SATA ports with RAID 0/1, 2 COM ports, 1 LPC connector for additional COM/Parallel ports, and 4-bit input and 4-bit output GPIO for device controls. The expansion design of the 3 Mini-ITX embedded motherboards also offers additional capabilities for various demands via 1 PCIe x16 slot (PCIe 3.0) and 1 Mini PCIe slot that supports USB and PCIe signals, and mSATA. In order to provide additional options to customers, the 3 models are packed with different power connectors: HM100-QM87 with 1 24-pin ATX, HM101-QM87 with 1 12V DC-in (default) or 1 4-pin ATX (optional), and HM103-QM87 with 13~24V DC-in.

The 3 boards have been designed for a range of applications such as gaming machine, medical equipment, industrial control automation, security & surveillance, smart grid, ATM, and POS.
