Effective January 2, 2013, the recast EU RoHS Directive is required to come into force in all member states. While no new substances were added to the six already restricted, significant changes have occurred, specifically the requirement that as of January 2013 CE markings and Declarations of Conformity will be mandatory evidence of product RoHS compliance.
In the United States, the rules relating to supply chain traceability of certain key raw materials for electronics were published on August 22, 2012. Reporting requirements for these rules also commences in January 2013. By May 31, 2014, companies must have systems in place to submit their first year of compliance data.
