Advanex Europe Celebrate 75 Years of Engineering Excellence

Shortlisted finalist for Nottingham’s Company of the Year Award, Advanex celebrate 75 years of delivering world class components this month. Originally started in 1937, Advanex (formerly GE Haywood Spring Manufacturer) began producing valves for domestic, textile markets.

Since then, the business has had various trading names, including Entex Springs, and has grown from a 2 man operation to a multi-site, world class manufacturer employing over 170 people in the Nottingham area.

The course of expansion has seen them occupy various sites around Nottingham now at Southwell and Glaisdale Drive, Bilborough. The products offered have evolved over the last 75 years to keep up with technological and social shifts in consumer behaviour.

The early days of the company saw the design and manufacture of valves and springs for large scale equipment predominantly from the local textile industry. Over recent years, Advanex manufacture millions of springs and other precision metal components for industries covering medical, pharmaceutical, aerospace, electronics and the automotive markets. Advanex have also developed the unique Kato CoilThread, an insert that can save up to 40% installation time compared to conventional inserts.

Paul Clifford, Managing Director comments “We have had a very successful 75 years of business. We are proud to have survived and grown our output and employment figures to become a significant local employer. We never stop learning and never will. Here’s to the next 75 years!”.
