Eurosatory 2010: Rohde & Schwarz demonstrated interoperability between radio networks of different forces

Rohde & Schwarz showed its radio access point system at Eurosatory in Paris. This solution can be used to network the various radio infrastructures of branches of the armed forces, forces of different nations, and public safety and security (PSS) authorities with each other.

In multinational or humanitarian missions, the radio access point establishes interoperability between Rohde & Schwarz radios, or legacy radios, of the partners involved. Networking with TETRA-based PSS radio networks is also possible, for example. Information that is urgently needed by all parties involved to gain a complete picture of the situation – and that would otherwise only be available in fragments – can be exchanged. To achieve this, radio access points are set up at strategically favorable locations in the deployment area. Rohde & Schwarz radios can even be used to set up the radio links by remote control.

A radio access point with two radios as remote stations is on display at Eurosatory. One of the radios is equipped with a camera that is controlled via the radio access point. The pictures from the camera are displayed live on a smart board. The second radio from the R&S M3TR family of tactical software defined radios sets up a connection with a TETRA radio network via the radio access point.
