Speciality Cabling Scoop Top Award

Beating off all the competition, Brand-Rex Speciality Cabling Solutions won a top Business accolade at the North of England Business Excellence Awards on 24th September. Judged as the best Private Sector Business (under 250 employees), a group of staff accepted the award, presented by the Rt Hon Rosie Winterton MP, at the annual awards dinner at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.

The speciality division manufactures high performance electrical cables for the aerospace, automotive and rail industries. The cables are designed to perform in extreme environments.

Organisers North of England Excellence commented that the standard of entries had been the best since the awards began in 1994 and believes that this is somewhat due to the determination of businesses to improve their competitiveness in the face of recession.

Entries were judged against the Business Excellence Model, a management tool for assessing business performance. A team of experienced assessors conducted a site visit and found that Brand-Rex had a focus on continual improvement with a clear commitment to using the Business Excellence model to drive this. It was also evident that Brand-Rex use performance management to manage and monitor all of their processes to ensure that products never fail to meet customer expectations.

John Bachegalup, Quality Environmental and Health and Safety Manager at Brand-Rex in Leigh commented, ‘this award is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication by all the staff here in Leigh. It is a great honor for Brand-Rex to win this prestigious award and now we must continue to use the Business Excellence Model to further improve our Business.’

Brand-Rex in Leigh was also awarded a Corporate Social Responsibility award last at last year’s North of England Excellence Awards and achieved a Continuity Marque earlier this year.
