Anritsu surpasses GRQ framework defined by GSMA

Anritsu announced today that they not only satisfy the GRQ (Global Roaming Quality) requirements as defined by GSMA – they surpass them with their Voice Quality measurement capability. The GRQ framework, initiated by GSMA has a set of KPI’s for voice, data and SMS, which enable Service Providers to formulate mutual SLAs (Service Level Agreement’s) between each other.

Setting and monitoring SLA’s with roaming partners ensures revenue from inbound and outbound roamers is assured. Accurate and timely information on the reliability and Quality of Services for subscribers roaming outside their home network enables Service Providers to manage their roaming agreements and preferred roaming partners.

Anritsu’s eoPath Roaming Insight satisfies the GRQ requirements, which has 40 voice, data and SMS parameters, as defined by GSMA. It provides a multi-service monitoring solution that protects and increases Service Providers roaming revenue and improves the user experience. In addition, eoPath Roaming Insight has the option of measuring the Voice Quality of calls, adding an additional dimension to roaming partner management, exceeding the GRQ requirements.

Roaming traffic is typically a low percentage of total network traffic, but can make a significant contribution to a mobile network operator’s revenue and profit. As Providers are pressured more and more on creating profit from network traffic, roaming is becoming even more important, and Service Providers are looking for cost effective solutions that maximise the revenue from roamers.

“Enabling our customers to manage GRQ reporting, as well as provide them with an end-to-end tool to monitor the roaming Quality of Service, will help them become more profitable. So far handling mutual SLA agreements between Service Providers has been a challenge, but with eoPath Roaming Insight, this has become easier and an effective method to increase profits” said Marketing Director Neil Tomlinson.
