Nigel Starkey joins Wilson Process Systems as new Purchasing Manager

Wilson Process Systems has recently appointed Nigel Starkey as Purchasing Manager. Starkey’s first task has been to restructure the internal purchasing team and implement systems to manage the supply chain network to ensure that despite the challenging market conditions which have led to some component lead times moving out, WPS will always seek to have sufficient inventory to fulfil its customers’ requirements for assembled PCBs on time.

Starkey joined WPS from the petrochemical industry bringing a wealth of experience and a thorough understanding of the strict disciplines of good purchasing practice. “We have appointed internal specialists to handle quotations, expediting and inventory management which puts us in control of the market instead of being dictated to by it”, he explains.

“We have established procedures which enable us to communicate more thoroughly with our supply chain partners, sharing our customers’ projected requirements and also our expectations of performance – reliability, quality, delivery time and price”, he adds. “It’s a two way process; our suppliers can be more confident as they have increased visibility of our requirements and we get more support if components become harder to source. This approach results in a vast increase in our on-time delivery performance to our customers.”
