Farnell supports development of energy efficient designs for a sustainable future

Recognising the growing importance of energy efficient products and design, Farnell, the leading multi-channel, high service distributor supporting millions of engineers and purchasing professionals globally, has enhanced its range of products and online technical resources in this area in order to support design engineers in developing end-to-end energy efficient solutions.

The increased emphasis has seen the addition of over 3,500 new product lines from leading suppliers and innovators in energy efficient technology including TI, Maxim, International Rectifier, and Analogue Linear Devices. The product additions encompass power management components and modules, devices to enhance energy efficiency such as microcontrollers, switching devices and thermal management products, low power solid state illumination products, and circuit protection components including fuses, TVS diodes and passives.

Access to these products is available via an online guide: ‘Energy Conservation and Sustainable Design’, located on the company’s website and at www.electronicsdesignworld.com. The guide contains comprehensive information to support engineers in developing energy efficient solutions, including technical datasheets, manufacturer’s guidance notes and useful technical articles.

Jamie Furness Technology Development Manager at Farnell said: “In order to realise a sustainable product design, energy efficiency must be considered from the very earliest stages of development with each element broken down and analysed to see if there is a way of making the end product more efficient.” He continued: “Farnell can play a key role in supporting this. Our focus on energy aims to make the process easier by offering the widest choice of the latest technologies coupled with technical information to help engineers incorporate them into their product designs.”
