Traditionally it has been necessary to use ‘all in one’ cables dedicated to either PS/2 or USB connections between the KVM switch and the server; the new CE cable provides a universal single solution, reducing stock holding and complexity by doing away with the need to keep two types of cable to ensure compatibility with existing and future server hardware.
User-friendly KVM cable solution from Austin Hughes
Austin Hughes Europe has enhanced its KVM cable offering by introducing a unique ‘all in one’ cable supplied with a USB to PS/2 keyboard adapter. The new CE cable has a single 15 pin D type connector at the KVM end; at the server end there is a standard 15 pin D type analogue video connector, a flying lead PS/2 mouse connector and a flying lead USB connector. A separate USB to PS/2 keyboard adaptor is supplied as part of the kit. In a USB server application the USB connector is used for both the keyboard and mouse, thereby taking up only one USB slot position. In a PS/2 server application the flying lead PS/2 mouse is used as normal and the USB connector plugged into the PS/2 adapter for the keyboard.
