IEC approved UMF fuse in 1206 package from Arrow

Now available from Arrow, the Schurter USI 1206 is the industry’s first IEC approved Universal Modular Fuse in a 1206 footprint. In addition to conformance to IEC 60127-4/2, the device bears international approvals by cURus, METI and CCC. The new fuse series has high melting I²t values, which provides greater withstand against inrush or pulse currents. In lower overcurrent conditions its opening time compares to 1206 time-delay types according to UL; but it also responds very quickly to higher overcurrents in the event of a fault condition.

Current ratings range from 0.5A to 6.3A with voltage ratings of 63VDC and 32VAC. The devices have a breaking capacity of 63A at rated voltages and an operating temperature range of -55°C to +90°C.

The USI series is designed to provide secondary overcurrent protection (OCP) in power inverters and low-voltage power supplies in an extremely small 1206 package (3.2mm x 1.6mm x 0.6mm). It is also suitable for protection of integrated display and storage subsystems, portable medical devices and sensor-rich in-car electronics, where reliability of performance is critical. The thin film technology process used to produce the fuse yields very predictable and stable performance results, as each fuse passes through a testing procedure in order to qualify for use in the most sensitive electronic systems.

The device supports lead (Pb)-free reflow soldering or vapour phase processes and is RoHS compliant according to EU-Directive 2002/95/EG. It is supplied taped and reeled according to IEC 60286-3.
