element14 and RIoTboard.org have launched the official community website for the RIoTboard. It will serve as the launch pad for innovative open source projects to enable the Internet of Things (IoT). Designers will be encouraged to join the RIoTboard revolution at the site, where they can buy, design and register their projects.

Users will also gain quick access to getting started video tutorials, technical resources such as full schematics, Linux and Android software, and join in discussions with the online community of passionate RIoTboarders.

The RIoTboard is an open source development platform based on Freescale Semiconductor’s i.MX 6Solo processor that delivers a fully-featured single-board computer. It enables developers the freedom to design Android and other open-source projects that demand the processing power and expandability needed for applications like HD video, high-bit transcoding and encoding, gaming applications and real-time sensing.

The RIoTboard is available from Farnell element14 in Europe.

David Shen, Chief Technology Officer at Premier Farnell said: “For the electronics industry, IoT continues to be a major trend that will globally boost the market and the RIoTboard is ideally positioned as a hub for IoT development. As a disruptive technology, IoT will impact almost every segment of the economy and society.

“The RIoTboard is the latest in our ever-expanding range of solutions, offering everything from starter kits to complete development boards, including the newest releases and exclusive bundles.”
