Signal generator supports transition to DVB-T2 standard
The S1000 signal generator from IZT offers a solution to simulate the new digital TV standards and to test related receivers. It provides an easy and cost effective approach to evaluate the functionality of digital TV receivers. Using modulators, TV standards like DVB-T, ISDB-T and the recently launched DVB-T2 are supported. An option to support the CMMB standard is in preparation.
Massive industrial manufacturing failures caused by water vapour
Several billion pounds a year are lost in the UK each year by machines that jam, electronics that fail, foods that rot, metals that rust, and drugs that lose potency. In the majority of cases the root cause is, shockingly, exactly the same. Vapours, usually water or hydrocarbon vapours that simply seep into the wrong place.
Spring probe brings longer life, improved MTBF
The LFRE-39 spring probe from Everett Charles Technologies (ECT) completes its portfolio of products for lead-free test applications. LFRE-39 features ECT’s LFRE plating and is designed to meet fine pitch requirements down to 39 mil (1.0 mm). The LFRE-39 fully meets the demanding requirements of high volume production in-circuit and functional test.
Temperature and humidity logging for dry cabinet range
Seika Machinery, a supplier of advanced machinery, materials and engineering services, has just announced that Dickson Data’s TM325 Display Temperature & Humidity Logger is now available for all McDry cabinets.
PXI source measure unit offers 10fA current sensitivity
A source measure unit (SMU) with a measurement sensitivity of 10 fA and voltage output up to 200 V has been unveiled by National Instruments. Engineers can use the NI PXIe-4135 SMU to measure low-current signals and take advantage of the high channel density, fast test throughput and flexibility of NI PXI SMUs for applications such as wafer-level parametric test, materials research and characterisation of low-current sensors and ICs.
PIM analysers cover five mobile phone bands
Now available from RF and microwave equipment supplier Link Microtek is CCI’s PiMPro family of portable PIM (passive intermodulation) analysers, which enable users to cover the five UK licensed mobile-phone bands with only four units, representing a 20% cost saving compared with competitive products.
Test platform features at SEMICON West
The TS-960 Semiconductor Test Platform will be the feature product for Marvin Test Systems at the SEMICON West exhibition in San Francisco (July 11-17). The TS-960 platform features a 20-slot, 3U PXI chassis accommodating up to 512 125MHz digital I/O channels with PMUs per pin, yet has a small footprint and modular structure, allowing users to address a range of test applications.
Contactless test API enables user defined scenarios
A new testing API, a programming interface that allows developers to write their own test cases in the contactless environment (NFC Forum, EMVCo, ISO/IEC 18092, ISO/IEC 14443) has been developed by Comprion. As the API offers the opportunity to implement user-defined scenarios in a lab environment, it is of high value for everyone involved in the development of contactless devices and applications.
Neutron diffraction studies find origins of lithium battery deterioration
Researchers use diffraction data from pulsed high-intensity neutrons to understand the reactions that deteriorate lithium batteries during operation. The findings are published in Scientific Reports, 30th June 2016. Despite the commercialisation of rechargeable lithium batteries in 1991, improvements to the reliability, safety and long-term stability are still needed for their use in a wider range of large-scale applications.
HDCP 2.2 support added to handheld analyser/generator
A new member has been added to the quantumdata 780 series handheld test instruments from Teledyne LeCroy. The new 780E Multi-Protocol Analyser / Generator is equipped with DisplayPort input and output ports making it the only portable instrument capable of testing HDMI, HDBaseT and DisplayPort devices and distribution networks including HDCP 2.2 verification.
