Simulators open way to multi-frequency GNSS testing
The GSS7000 series of multi-frequency, multi-GNSS RF constellation simulators from Spirent provides an entry to multi-frequency testing, with a modular approach to enable this new precision GNSS simulation system to expand with users’ needs. The GSS7000 simulation system will suit receiver, system and application developers who want to take advantage of new satellite navigation systems and the better accuracy offered by civilian, multi-freq...
PCIE 4.0 test solution Includes support for 16 GT/s data rates
A series of enhancements to the Tektronix suite of PCI Express (PCIe) test solutions includes support for the 16 GT/s data rate and what is said to be the industry's first automated transmitter and receiver test solutions supporting the PCIe 4.0 architecture. With the faster data rates for PCIe 4.0 technology come new test challenges such as major increases in channel loss, tightening of the total jitter budget and more complex link training and ...
ASC International at SMTA Upper Midwest Expo
ASC International has announced it will exhibit at the SMTA Upper Midwest Expo scheduled for Thursday, June 30 and will offer live demonstrations of its SPI and AOI solutions. The VisionPro M500, VisionPro AP500, VisionPro AV862 and LineMaster DM will all be available on the show floor for hands-on presentations.
Offering more precise temperature control
The TC10 (10A, 15V) and TC5 (5A, 15V) from Wavelength Electronics are digital controllers for thermoelectrics and resistive heaters where tight temperature stability is required.
The challenge of capturing real world data
All mechanical systems in the real world experience some level of shock and vibration and these forces can take their toll on products (and people). Therefore, design engineers have always had a driving interest in finding ways to better understand our world in motion. California-based Diversified Technical Systems (DTS) look into the technology that is available in order to do this.
Nanoscientists develop the 'ultimate discovery tool'
A Northwestern University research team is developing a tool to rapidly test millions and perhaps even billions or more different nanoparticles at one time to zero in on the best particle for a specific use. When materials are miniaturised, their properties change, offering new possibilities. But determining what nanoparticle size and composition are best for a given application, such as catalysts, biodiagnostic labels, pharmaceuticals and electr...
Eye diagrams added to serial trigger, decode solutions
The Serial Data Analysis capabilities for Teledyne LeCroy’s oscilloscope solutions have been enhanced by Eye Diagram capabilities in the new TDME Serial Bus options. The company is offering the widest range of Trigger (T), Decode (D), Measure/Graph(M or G) and Eye Diagram and Physical Layer (E or P) options.
Physicists create high-precision 'quantum ruler'
Physicists from the Russian Quantum Center (RQC), MIPT, the Lebedev Physical Institute, and L'Institut d'Optique (Palaiseau, France) have devised a method for creating a special quantum entangled state. This state enables producing a high-precision ruler capable of measuring large distances to an accuracy of billionths of a metre. The results of the study have been published in Nature Communications.
STI buys AOI System from Nordson YESTECH
STI Electronics, has acquired a Nordson YESTECH FX-940 ULTRA 3D Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) system. It provides STI’s contract assembly services with a significant improvement in throughput with the ability to inspect 1.5 million components per hour. The system’s accuracy rate will give customers a level of confidence far exceeding that of visual inspection or other AOI systems using older technology.
IPC compliant THT solder joint inspection
The X-ray inspection system X Line 3·D from GOEPEL electronic is designed to enable reliable inspection of THT and Pin-in-Paste solder joints in compliance with the IPC quality standard through a unique combination of 3D X-ray (AXI) and 2D AOI inspection. This level of inspection is particularly important for automotive assemblies which are subject to strict quality requirements.
